AMS Thread-On Carbon Steel Auger Bucket, Mud, 2-3/4 For heavy, wet clays use the Mud Auger. Auger down to a depth of five feet in just two minutes – even in the hardest soils! Traditional thread-on features 5/8” NC threaded pin coupling. The Carbon Steel Bit is for regular sampling applications. On all augers, cylinders are stainless steel, 6-1/2” long. Overall auger length is approximately 12”. Cutting edges are stelite hard surfaced, heat treated, and sharpened to a fine cutting edge. Thread-On is similar to nuts and bolts, this system of augers, cross handles, and extensions use threaded joints to form solid connections between linked items. And, Thread-On pieces are slightly less expensive. A special adapter is available which allows Thread-On augers to attach to Quick-Connect handles and extensions, reducing breakdown and set-up time. More importantly, Thread-On components and extensions are the only tools compatible with AMS hammer attachments.
